THE HOLY SPIRIT – AN ENABLER OF BREAKING LIMITATIONS!!! (Part ii)

In our last edition, we provided a summary of the Enablers of breaking Limitations in the lives of God’s People. Today, let us get into details of the Holy Spirit as an Enabler of Believers! The Holy Spirit provides special Anointing and Power to a Believer, that can be gotten from no other source. Examples include the following:

1. Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Lord Himself was empowered by the Holy Spirit as evidenced by the Scriptures. During the Baptism Service at the Jordan river, The Holy Spirit came upon Him like a dove (Luke 3:22). Jesus full and controlled by the Holy Spirit returned from Jordan river and was led by the same Holy Spirit to the wilderness where He fasted for 40 days; after which He was tempted (Luke 4:1-2). Later on, Jesus proclaimed how the Holy Spirit was upon Him and had anointed Him for the work of the Ministry (Luke 4:18). Jesus Christ prescribed the Holy Spirit for His disciples before they would commence the work of the Ministry (Acts 1:8). “You will receive Power when the Holy Spirit will come upon you; and you will be my witnesses”.

2. The disciples of Jesus Christ without the Holy Spirit had many weaknesses; although they could go for preaching practice and report to Jesus their wonderful experiences (Luke 10:17-20). Without walking in the Power of the Holy Spirit, the disciples of Jesus were vulnerable to denying and betraying Him; falling into temptations and backsliding because of limitations of fear; doubts and unbelief; Prayerlessness and lack of boldness. Think about the disciples without the Holy Spirit at the garden of Gethsemane. Even the very confidants of Jesus (Peter, John and James) could not pray for Him even for one hour (Matthew 26:40). When Jesus, their Master and Friend was arrested, the disciples run away and left Him, to the extent of one fleeing naked (Mark 14:5052). Without the Holy Spirit, Peter denied Jesus three times to the point of invoking a curse on himself (Mark 14:67-71). Therefore, at a time of His going to heaven, Jesus knew the spiritual vulnerability and weaknesses of his disciples; and the only solution was for them to wait at Jerusalem until they received the Holy Spirit (the Enabler in form Divine Anointing). The transformed Peter after receiving the Power of the Holy Spirit since all the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4) was undeniable! Peter and John could not be silenced by whatever opposition or threats (Acts 2:14-4:22).

The spiritual limitation of the Church today is a mirror of the disciples before receiving the Holy Spirit. May the Lord create in you a desire, a longing, a willingness to be filled with the Holy Spirit, the enabler for your divine and undeniable transformation!!!
