EXPERIENCE MIRACULOUS POWER IN THANKSGIVING
The Lord God has brought you to the last Sunday of 2025; I persuade you to end the year with a heart full of gratitude! Thanksgiving is a golden word that bears miraculous power in it. A heart of gratitude should fill all spheres of life not only towards God but to one another. Imagine a buyer giving thanks to the seller and passenger giving thanks to the conductor for their services respectively; while the seller and conductor gives thanks in return for the consumer choosing their services. A husband giving thanks for being served food while the wife gives thanks because the husband ate the food. God expects and waits for us to give thanks and so do people (1 Thessalonians 5:18; Ephesians 5:20; Hebrews 13:15). In my pilgrimage on earth; I have observed several hindrances to thanksgiving that emanate from wrong attitude:
1. Entitlement attitude – The feeling it is your right to be treated in a certain way is a real obstacle to thanksgiving! The 9 lepers (Luke 17:17–18) who were Jews may have felt it was their right to be healed by Jesus (a Jew) as opposed to the Samaritan (a foreigner) who came back to Jesus to give thanks (V18). Perhaps for Jesus to express disappointment to the 9; He asked the one, Where are the 9? (V17). Hear me well – You neither merited nor were you entitled the Lord’s goodness He showed you in 2025!
2. Pride or arrogance – This come from the human effort (self-contributions) that people associate with their new positions or status. The buyer and passenger may feel they paid for the services while the husband may feel he contributed the money for shopping and it is the duty of the wife to cook anyway! The 9 lepers may have felt they cried to Jesus for help and obeyed by journeying to show themselves to the priests (V14). It is cheer pride to focus on what you desired in 2025 that has not materialized; and you overlook/forget all the Lords benefits of 2025 (Psalm 103:1–5).
Other pitfalls to avoid in order to Finish the Year Strong – with a heart full of Thanksgiving include:
i) Discontentment/Chasing the wind – the continuous thirst for more or wanting something else instead of what God has given you.
ii) Mere Ignorance – Just failing to recognize the need of giving thanks.
iii) Being busy bodies – Focusing on what one does not have instead of counting the present blessings.
iv) Self comparison with others – As people compare themselves with others, they often feel inadequate or envious and thus become blinded from enjoying what they already have.
v) Distractions – You will always have other pressing and demanding needs arising from time to time; thus drawing your attention and finally blocking you from giving thanks!
No matter what happened to you in 2025, choose to end the year with a heart full of gratitude! You will experience the miraculous Power hidden in Thanksgiving! This will definitely thrust you to Finish 2025 Strong! Remember were it not the Lord who was on your side… (Psalm 124:1–2)! Through it all, the Lord God has carried you through! Oh that you would choose to give thanks to the Lord for His goodness and for His wonderful deed in your life. I pray that you cross-over to 2026 Strong, full of gratitude to God’s Faithfulness! – And you will be propelled to Breaking Limitations in 2026!!
